Why We Chose Reusable Pet Diapers
Right from the start, we knew we didn’t want to add more single-use plastic to the world. Disposable pet diapers create a huge amount of waste and quickly become expensive for guardians, too.
Reusable rabbit diapers:
Reduce the volume of rubbish going to landfill
Save money over time because you wash and reuse them
Save space at home and reduce the frequency of shopping
Offer a softer, more comfortable fit for your bunny
Tend to be more refined with attention to detail
Unlike disposable ones, are not bleached with chlorine
For us, reusable, washable rabbit diapers were the only option that made sense – for you, your pet and the planet.
Choosing Materials That Are Kind to Rabbits and the Environment
We needed fabrics that would be:
Gentle on sensitive bunny skin
Highly absorbent
Durable in the wash
As low-impact as reasonably possible
That’s why our eco-friendly rabbit diapers are made from a combination of bamboo viscose terry on the inside and a thin, breathable cotton outer layer.
Why Bamboo Viscose Terry?
Bamboo itself is an impressive plant: it grows extremely fast, can be harvested in 3–5 years, and generally needs far less water and fewer (or no) pesticides than many traditional fibre crops such as cotton.
When turned into viscose and woven into fabric in responsible mills, bamboo fibres can offer:
Excellent moisture absorption – bamboo fabrics absorb significantly more moisture than cotton and can be up to around four times more absorbent, depending on the specific textile.
Good breathability and thermoregulation, helping to keep the skin cooler in summer and warmer in winter.
Softness and comfort against delicate skin, making it popular in baby and pet products.
For our reusable pet diapers we use bamboo terry, which has tiny loops that increase the absorbent surface area. That means fewer leaks and a drier, more comfortable bunny bottom.
At the same time, we take seriously the fact that bamboo viscose production can vary in its environmental impact, depending on the chemicals used and how well they are managed. Whenever possible, we choose suppliers who prioritise cleaner processes and certifications.

Breathable Cotton Outer Layer
The outside of the rabbit diaper is made from a thin, cotton fabric. Natural fibres such as cotton are breathable and help reduce overheating, which is especially important for rabbits who cannot sweat in the same way humans do.
The result is a handmade, locally sewn rabbit diaper that is:
Soft inside
Absorbent where it matters
Light and breathable on the outside
Almost Zero-Waste Production of Rabbit Diapers
Textile off-cuts are one of the biggest sources of waste in small workshops. Without a plan, these scraps quickly become a mixed pile of fabric that is hard to recycle.
We decided to treat off-cuts as a resource instead of rubbish:
Scraps of bamboo terry and cotton are shredded and mixed into a soft filling
We add leftover thread clippings into the mix – they disappear nicely inside the filling
From this, we create small accessories, such as padded keychains and other soft items
This approach allows us to reduce production waste by more than 99%. The tiny remaining fraction is usually small pieces of hook-and-loop (velcro-type) tape made from polyamide, which can be recycled more easily than mixed fabrics.
Plastic-Free, Reusable Packaging
Sustainability doesn’t end with the product itself. When you order an eco-friendly rabbit diaper from us, it arrives in:
Sturdy cardboard boxes or envelopes
Paper-based protective materials instead of plastic mailers
These can be reused for storage, repurposed for craft projects, or simply recycled. If a box ever does end up in nature by mistake, it will break down far faster than a plastic bag.
Growing Greener Together
We see our workshop as a living project. As new, more sustainable materials and processes appear, we want to explore them – always balancing environmental impact, rabbit comfort and affordability.
Thank you for choosing locally made, reusable pet diapers and for sharing your feedback and ideas. Together, we’re proving that practical pet care and sustainability can go paw in paw.
